Today is not just any ordinary Thursday. Today is January 10th – National Oysters Rockefeller Day.

The original Oysters Rockefeller was born in the famous New Orleans restaurant Antoine’s in 1889 by Chef Jules Alciatore. This rich recipe consists of oysters baked on half shell, bread crumbs, and a special sauce that has been a guarded secret since creation. The sauce has been unsuccessfully replicated by others.

Antoine’s has served millions of Oysters Rockefeller. The distinguished taste of this rich and flavorful dish has been an acclaimed food by many. If you are in or traveling to New Orleans, take the opportunity to experience this extraordinary delicacy.
